No, you do not need Bryn Mawr College’s permission to publish material from Special Collections, but you may need permission from the copyright holder.

While Bryn Mawr College Libraries Special Collections owns most of the physical materials in its collections, we generally do not own the copyright to those materials. In addition, certain images or materials may also be protected by trademark, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other interests not owned or controlled by Bryn Mawr College. Researchers are solely responsible for determining whether any permissions related to copyright, privacy, publicity, or any other rights are necessary for your intended use of Special Collections materials, and for obtaining all required permissions. In the case of manuscript and archival collections, we may be able to advise on how to contact the rights holder.

For questions about obtaining reproductions, please contact Special Collections by emailing SpecColl@brynmawr.edu with the details of your request.
